ACB books Malkajgiri deputy collector in Rs 6.22 crore DA case

Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday, May 22, booked Malkajgiri Deputy Collector in a disproportionate assets case after Rs 6.22 crore were recovered from him.

The accused was identified as Marri Vamshi Mohan, a Special Grade Deputy Collector. According to the ACB, while documents suggested the total value of assets is Rs 6.22 crore, the actual value is much higher.

Mohan was booked following the allegations that he acquired significant wealth through corrupt practices and dubious means during his service.

ACB raids deputy collector’s house

Earlier on Friday, the ACB raided Mohan’s residence, office and 11 other locations belonging to his relatives and associates.

During investigation, the ACB found that Mohan owned 19 open plots valued at Rs 4.46 crore; one independent house in NGOs Colony, Vanasthalipuram, and two flats in Manikonda and Majidbanda worth Rs 1.12 crore.

A two-acre farmhouse in Narrepally, Ibrahimpatnam, valued at Rs 10 lakh. Cash amounting to Rs 2,10,800 and bank balances totalling Rs 20 lakh. Two vehicles, including a Toyota Innova Crysta and a Kia car worth Rs 32 lakh, along with 122 grams of gold ornaments.

Suspicious transactions

The investigation also uncovered a suspicious transaction involving eight acres of agricultural land in Piglipur Village, RR District. The land was purchased in 2023 in the name of the Accused Officer’s (AO) father-in-law, Vijay Bhasker.

According to a press release, The ACB stated that the officer’s actions constitute an offence under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Accused Officer is set to be arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases in Hyderabad for judicial remand.
