Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau is conducting searches at road transport authority offices across the state amid allegations of corruption in the transport department.
According to reports, three locations in Hyderabad, including Uppal, Tirumalgiri and Manneguda, have been raided along with the Peddapalli RTA office since Thursday morning.
ACB officials are examining documents and questioning the RTA officials to uncover alleged favouritism in issuing driving licenses, fitness certificates, and vehicle registrations, etc and any instances of unlawful transactions.
Reportedly, 18 agents are under the scanner as part of the ongoing investigation.
In April this year, ACB carried out surprise raids on the RTA and Excise checkpoints at Wankidi, KB Asifabad district, to reveal illegal cash collection from vehicles carrying transport.
ACB officials confiscated a total of Rs 47,370 from three unauthorised agents of RTA and excise checkpost officials.
