BRS MLA accuses Revanth of ‘wrong decisions’ on Hyderabad Metro

Hyderabad Desk

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Legislative Party whip and MLA KP Vivekananda on Friday, April 3, launched a sharp attack on chief minister Revanth Reddy during a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, accusing him of taking “misguided and unilateral decisions,” particularly concerning the Hyderabad Metro Rail project.

Vivekananda alleged that the chief minister has been on the “wrong path from the beginning” and attributed the current situation to his “lack of administrative experience.”

He further claimed that the state government is prioritising real estate interests over public welfare.

Allegations on Metro Rail and land issues

The BRS leader accused the government of attempting to take control of nearly 250 acres of land associated with the Hyderabad Metro Rail by allegedly pressuring L&T, the infrastructure company involved in the project. He claimed that threats of legal action were being used as leverage.

He also alleged large-scale land acquisition under various initiatives, including the Musi River beautification project, UoH lands, the HILT policy, and Transferable Development Rights (TDR), stating that “thousands of acres are being diverted under different pretexts.”

Vivekananda further accused the chief minister of handing over government assets to associates and using such moves to expand personal wealth—claims that have not been independently verified.

Claims on Metro expansion

The MLA said that if BRS were still in power, metro connectivity would have been extended from Raidurg to Shamshabad Airport and expanded towards Medchal in the north.

He criticised the current administration for delays, stating that metro development has stagnated over the past two years.

Criticism of Assembly proceedings

Vivekananda also took issue with the chief minister’s statement in the Assembly regarding metro acquisition, alleging that it was made without allowing discussion and calling it a “unilateral decision.”

Vivekanand targets BJP

The BRS leader criticised Union Ministers from Telangana, including G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, alleging that they have failed to secure national projects or benefits for the state. He claimed that Telangana has not received its due under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

Political attacks extend beyond state

Vivekananda also criticised the Congress party, alleging that Telangana has become an “ATM” for the party’s national operations. He further mocked the chief minister’s recent remarks in Kerala, claiming they were not taken seriously.

Call to public

He concluded by stating that “it is the responsibility of the people of Telangana and Hyderabad to protect the metro rail project,” urging public awareness and scrutiny of government actions.
