Hyderabad: In an unusual protest, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) LB Nagar MLA Devirreddy Sudheer Reddy held a press meet at the media hall in the Assembly premises, wearing an outfit made of mosquito net material.
Speaking to the media, the MLA said, “The situation in Hyderabad has worsened so much that ‘the moment you open your mouth in Hyderabad, mosquitoes are flying into it. The public is being forced to take extreme steps. It seems like people will have to ‘stitch mosquito nets for themselves’.”
The MLA claimed that the Congress government has failed to control the situation and urged the authorities to look into the matter immediately. He demanded that at least 10 fogging machines be deployed in each division in Hyderabad to control the increasing number of mosquitoes.
He also warned that if urgent steps are not taken, Hyderabad’s brand image could suffer further damage, especially as the city continues to position itself as a global investment and IT hub.
The protest has sparked fresh debate over civic management and public health measures in the city, with residents frequently raising concerns about mosquito-borne diseases and inadequate fogging drives in several localities.
He has also cautioned that if immediate action is not taken, the brand image of Hyderabad could be further tarnished as it continues to grow as an investment and information technology destination.
The protest has once again brought up the debate over how the city is being managed, as citizens often voice their concerns over mosquito-borne diseases and the lack of fogging operations in various parts of the city.
