Case filed against Madhavi Latha in Begum Bazaar police station

Hyderabad: The Begum Bazaar police have booked a case of hate speech against Madhavi Latha, Hyderabad BJP Lok Sabha candidate for alleged hate speech and gesture against the Muslim community.

Shaik Imran, a resident of First Lancer had lodged a complaint with the Begum Bazaar police and alleged that, since announcing of the candidature for Hyderabad Lok Sabha Parliamentary constituency from BJP, Madhavi Latha is allegedly making anti Muslim comments. Later on April 17, during the Sri Ram Navami Shobha Yatra, Madhavi Latha allegedly made certain gesture hurting the sentiments of Muslim community. Meanwhile, a video went viral over social media depicting Madhavi Latha making a gesture of targeting an arrow towards a Mosque at Siddiamber Bazaar. However, the BJP candidate alleged that few persons have morphed the video to damage her campaign.

Shaik Imran in his complaint also alleged that the gesture has caused pain and anguish to the Muslims.

The Begum Bazaar police have registered a case under IPS section 295(A) (deliberate and malicious intention of outraging the religious feelings of any class by words, either spoken or written, or or by signs or by visible representations against Madhavi Latha and taken up investigation.
