Coronavirus cases in Hyderabad: Upward trend likely to continue till June

Hyderabad: Hyderabad is witnessing a rise in the number of coronavirus cases for the past few days. The daily count of positive cases in Greater Hyderabad has climbed to 201.

Meanwhile, as per the media bulletin released by the director of public health and family welfare on April 1, Telangana reported 887 new cases of covid-19 during 24 hours that ended at 8 p.m. on March 31.

The fresh infections pushed the state’s tally to 3,08,776. Four more persons succumbed to the virus, taking the death toll to 1,701. The total number of active cases mounted further to 5,511.

Experts opinion on coronavirus cases in Hyderabad

According to a report in the Times of India, the officials said that the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in Hyderabad is likely to continue till June 2021.

As per experts, Hyderabad may witness sharp spike in coronavirus cases as the city has dense population.

Professor and Director of Centre for Health Care Management, Administrative Staff College of India Dr. Subodh Kandhamuthan said that if social distancing is not maintained, the city may witness a second wave of coronavirus.

As due to business activities in Hyderabad, many people from neighbouring states visit the city, residents need to be more cautious and follow all covid guidelines, health official said.

Coronavirus cases in entire India

Meanwhile, 72,330 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the entire India. The total cases of COVID-19 infection crossed the 1.2 crore mark on Thursday. Maharashtra continued to report the highest number of daily cases in the country.

The country also reported 459 new deaths taking the death toll to 1,62,927.
