Hyderabad Desk

Hyderabad:  It has not been a long since Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh starrer Bajirao Mastani- inspired fashion trended across the city. From heavy jewelry to iconic dresses used in the film, Hyderabadis left no stone unturned to give a filmi touch to their desi festive looks. Time has now paved for our fashion to be internationally-inspired.

Fashionistas are now looking to delve into the world of the famous Turkish drama ‘Dirilis: Ertugrul’. Young women, especially, are loving to imitate the look of Ertugrul female lead — Halima Sultana’s dress. The iconic dress is now being flooded across markets in Hyderabad.

‘Halima Sultana dress’ is basically a long cardigan with a shirt and either a pencil pant or gharara as a bottom. The dresses are sold between Rs 3,000 and Rs 10,000. It is not just the dress, but the jewelry complimenting the dress is being sold.

“I am a big Ertugrul Fan, in fact, my entire family makes it a point to watch one episode per day after dinner every day. For my brother’s wedding, I was very sure of designing the same dress which Halima wore. Fortunately, I was able to get the dress here,” said Daneen Khan, who was buying her dress at Meenaz Collections, Pathergatti.

“The dress is in demand and moreover, we are getting orders to make similar ones as many have opted for it as the theme for weddings. In fact, we have ordered the same pattern for a bridal outfit, whose Nikah is probably at home,” said Zyra store owner at Abids.

The dresses are seen in almost every shop in Charminar, Abids, Sultan Bazaar, Koti, Begum Bazar, Tolichowki and many others. Even the well-known shops like Zooni, Kashish, Karishma and many are selling dresses of the same pattern.

Young boys are very fascinated to get a feel of the film’s aura that they are getting their hairstyles done like that of the characters in the series.

7-year-old Jibraan, who is a big Engin Altan Düzyatan (actor who played ‘Ertugrul’) fan, had urged his father to get him the same hairstyle. “My son is very young and though he doesn’t actually understand what is happening, he is charmed by the clothes, hairstyles, and bravery of the actor,” said Sameer Uddin Khan at Malakpet.

During the winter, Ertugrul style-caps with claret-colored have become popular in and are available in markets in the city and are also available on online stores like Amazon.

People are also lapping up Ertugrul emperor Kayi symbols (IYI) jewelry such as finger rings, lockets, and printed clothes.

Interestingly, almost every fourth person would have Ertugrul’s title track as their ringtone. Moreover, the autos and bikes have stickers of the Turkish serial appearing on vehicles.

The increasing fever of the series also led to a Mandi restaurant at Masan Tank named ‘Ertugrul Mandi’. The owner created fully dramatic scenes in a food court by having the posters of the characters in the restaurant.
