Hyderabad Desk

Hyderabad: In a significant operation, the Cyberabad Special Operations Team of the Medchal zone arrested five individuals who had been selling substandard spare parts for various automobiles at different stores. The police confiscated spare parts of Honda, Hero, and Bajaj companies, valued at Rs. 40 lakh.

M A Rasheed, SOT DCP, stated that the accused individuals, namely Ganpat Kumawat, also known as Ganesh, Suresh Chand, and Sravan Kumar, are siblings and natives of Rajasthan who migrated to the city in 2008. They established a spare parts shop named Diamond and Bhagyalaxmi in Alwal. They collaborated with Omaram Nimawath, the owner of Mathaji Automobiles in Suraram, and Raju Ram, the owner of Mahalaxmi Automobiles in Bachupally.

The gang acquired duplicate or substandard spare parts from various companies through intermediaries in Delhi. “After obtaining the duplicate spare parts, the gang members affixed stickers bearing the companies’ logos and sold them to people as genuine spare parts. The gang even obtained company logos and barcodes to reduce suspicion among buyers,” said DCP SOT, M A Rasheed.

The gang distributed the products to 28 shops in Hyderabad, one shop in Siddipet, and two shops in Warangal.
