Hyderabad: In view of the ongoing Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) strike, Hyderabad Metro Rail has decided to increase the frequency of its trains to reduce inconvenience for commuters.
During the strike period, a total of 56 metro trains will be operated throughout the day.
On a normal weekday, 56 trains are usually operated only during peak hours between 8 am to 10:30 am and 5 pm to 8 pm, with a gap of 3 minutes 40 seconds between trains. During non-peak hours, the number of trains is reduced to 44, with a gap of 4 minutes 50 seconds on the Miyapur–LB Nagar corridor and 5 minutes 20 seconds on the Nagole–Raidurg corridor.
However, due to the RTC strike, authorities have decided to run the maximum number of trains throughout the day.
The gap between trains will be around 4 minutes 20 seconds on the Miyapur–LB Nagar corridor and 3 minutes 40 seconds on the Nagole–Raidurg corridor.
Additionally, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited (LTMRHL) is also examining the possibility of extending the last metro train service beyond 11 pm.
It is being considered following a request from Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) to further reduce the difficulties faced by passengers during the strike.
The move is expected to provide relief to thousands of commuters who are affected by the reduced bus services during the ongoing RTC strike.
