Hyderabad: Police book case after Quranic verses found in firecrackers

Hyderabad: The Musheerabad police on Monday booked a case against a cracker manufacturer for allegedly insulting religious feelings of a community for using certain Quranic verses on crackers.

Late Monday night Mohammed Amjedullah Khan Khalid, spokesperson Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) had approached Musheerabad police with some crackers, in which he claimed that Quranic verses are printed in Arabic.

Amjedullah alleged that the local cracker seller Kiran Kumar Jaiswal who is running a shop in front of Ek Minar Masjid at Musheerabad has been selling crackers wrapped with few Quranic verses. He has sought strict action against the cracker manufacturer at Sivakasi and the local seller for insulting the religious feelings of the community.

The local public gathered in front of police station Musheerabad and staged a protest along with the MBT leader.

“We have registered a case and have collected the cracker samples from the nearby shop,” said E. Jahangeer Yadav, Inspector Musheerabad police station.
