‘I’ll have to play the game their way,’ CM Revanth, on Telangana politics

Hyderabad Desk

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy said that it was because of the padayatra undertaken by former home minister of undivided AP T Devender Goud for bringing Godawari waters to the farmers’ fields, that the then state government had started Pranahitha-Chevella Sujala Sravanthi Lift irrigation Scheme, which was renamed to Kaleshwaram Lift irrigation Scheme (KLIS) after the formation of Telangana by BRS government.

Speaking at the release of the book titled “Vijaya Telangana” authored by Devender Goud at Jala Vihar on Friday, February 14, Revanth Reddy felt the need for more books to be written on the history of Telangana movement.

He said that attempts were made to distort the history of Telangana to show one family as the sole participant in the movement, though many individuals and sections had fought for Telangana’s statehood.

He felt that the present-day politics were not happening in the respectful way, and that people’s representatives were verbally abusing, insulting, and showing each other down.

He said that he had to play the game in ways the opposition parties were playing, and if he didn’t, he would be out of the game.

“If one lies outside it is ok. But on the floor of the assembly people are blatantly telling lies,” the chief minister pointed out.

“Though I don’t like it, but I’ll have to play their game their way. Jana Reddy’s generation played test matches. Your (Devender Reddy) generation played one-day matches. We are playing 20-20 here,” Revanth joked.
