Hyderabad: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Sadar Majlis-e-Ulama-e-Deccan, also known as the crescent moon sighting committee, has commenced its monthly meeting in Hyderabad to determine the start date of Ramzan in India.
The beginning of the holy month in India will depend on whether the crescent is sighted today. If confirmed, Ramzan will begin tomorrow. Otherwise, it will commence on Friday, February 20.
Public urged to report Ramzan crescent moon sighting in Hyderabad
Individuals who sight the crescent moon have been requested to inform the committee through the designated contact numbers, 9866112393, 9849879426, 9000008138, or 24603597.
While the crescent moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia yesterday, authorities in New Zealand confirmed that it was not sighted today.
Decision expected after verification
The official announcement regarding the start of Ramzan in India will be made after verification of moon sighting reports in accordance with established religious guidelines.
