Hyderabad: BRS Suryapet MLA G Jagadish Reddy has been suspended from the house for the rest of the special assembly sessions after the Congress MLAs demanded his suspension, accusing him of insulting and intimidating Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar during the special assembly session on Thursday, March 13.

BRS MLAs who held a sit-in protest at Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue on the Necklace Road after the suspension was ordered by the speaker. BRS has declared state-wide protests on Friday, March 14, by burning the effigy of the state government against the suspension of Jagadish Reddy.

Addressing media persons, Jagadish Reddy said that his suspension was a conspiracy of the ruling party to silence him, after he was asked by BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao to speak on the governor’s address representing the BRS.

He said that he has not spoken anything against the speaker, and was only trying to raise the failures of the Congress government.

Speaking with media, BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) said that it was a way to silence the voices of the opposition, as the state government was scared of ‘commissions’ and ‘bags of money from Delhi’ getting exposed during the session.

He said that the suspension showed the government’s unilateral stand, arrogance and autocratic ways.

“They could have taken a decision after taking the opinions from all political parties. There is not a single unparliamentary word uttered by Jagadish Reddy,” he said.
