Omicron scare: Telangana Lokayukta directive for face mask, helmet use

Hyderabad: The Telangana Lokayukta Justice C V Ramulu on Monday issued a directive to the government officials to take immediate steps to curb the spread of coronavirus.

The Lokayukta directed the Director General of police, Secretary and Commissioner GHMC, commissioners of Police Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Richa Kunda to ensure that their subordinates are ensuring strict observance of covid-19 protocols by the public. He instructed these officials to submit their report in this regard in the next hearing to be held in December.

According to a press release issued by Register Telangana Lokayukta Syed Latifur Rahman the justice CV Ramlu has taken a sou moto notice to file a complaint in August 2020. According to the latest reports the new variant of coronavirus is likely to spread fast in the country.

The Additional Commissioner Traffic Vijayakumar and Secretary Health have appeared before the Lokayukta. After speaking to these officials the Lokayukta had decided to issue the directive for the compulsory use of face mask and helmet along with social distancing.

The Lokayukta expressed its displeasure that the officials of the Health department Police, Traffic Police and GHMC are not ensuring strict observance of the covid-19 protocols by the public. He also warned that the new coronavirus variant could spread due to cigarette smoking in public places.

Justice Ramlu also directed the officials to ensure that police patrolling is carried out between 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. to ensure people are not gathered in groups.
