Secundrabad’s Big Ben ticks again after restoration

Hyderabad: Big Ben, Secundrabad’s major landmark gets back its charm after the restoration. This oldest historic structure in the Twin Cities and was built in 1860. 

The restoration was a part of a special initiative taken by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to refurbish and restore all the twin towers of the twin cities, the Secunderabad Civil Body Security Office has repaired the clock tower.

The restoration work was taken by the 60-year-old city of Ramesh Watch Company. ‘In January we were asked to fix the clock at the Moazzam Jahi Market Clock Tower, which we did.  It has been almost nine months and the clock is working excellently.  So they asked us to get the one up and running at Secunderabad Clock Tower, and it was done recently, ” said Laxman Chugani, owner of Ramesh Swiss Watch Gallery.

The watches that have now been fixed are maintenance free and hassle free.  They work with GPS and the lights set inside turn on automatically every night at 6pm and are turned off at 6pm.  The round clock set at Secunderabad Clock Tower is about 6 feet high.

However, one side of the tower has been fixed while the work of the other is under process.
