Telangana HC expresses concern over wine shops spreading COVID-19

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court today said that the liquor shops had become the main sources of spreading Covid 19 virus. It made these remarks while dealing with a batch of petitions filed on the issue.

The DGP of the state submitted a report before the HC on the implementation of Covid 19 guidelines in the State.

The division bench once again expressed its displeasure over the conduct of the less number of RTPCR tests and asked the state government to increase their number by 70 percent . The HC expressed its convene over the crowd at the liquor shops, pubs and theatres. It advised the state government to conduct the Covid 19 tests on the migrants from other states of the country. It asked the state government to constitute an advisory committee with experts.

In his report, the DGP said that they had booked 22000 cases against the violators of Covid 19 norms. He said that a total of 2416 cases were booked against those who did not maintain social distance and added that 6 cases were booked against those who spat on public roads.

However the HC said that the action initiated by the Authorities concerned were very less in the State.

The State government told the HC that it would compete the sero surveillance in six weeks time. The court asked the state government to submit the report after the completion of the survey. It made it clear that there should be containment zones in the state although there is no lock down. It asked the state government to submit its report by 14th of this month.
