Three arrested for threatening public prosecutors, witnesses

Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills Police arrested three accused for threatening public prosecutors and witnesses in the trial of the murder case of Dr Chigurupati Jayaram. 

According to police, since February 11, 2019, accused Rakesh Reddy who is involved in the murder case of Dr Chigurupati Jayaram is lodged in Chanchalguda central jail. At present, the trial of the murder case is going at Nampally criminal court. So Rakesh Reddy with intent to get acquitted from the case took help from the other three accused to threaten the government public prosecutors and witnesses to come out of the case.

Accordingly, Reddy induced a male nurse in the jail Mohammed Akbar and also his two friends Kurapathi Mangaiah Guptha and Kattula Srinivas by offering huge amounts to them if they cooperate with him. They agreed to cooperate with him.

From Rakesh Reddy, accused Mohammed Akbar with the other two accused forwarded letters containing life-threatening messages to the special public prosecutors and witnesses. The special public prosecutor and witness filed a complaint in Chandanagar and Rajendrnagar police respectively.

The Jubilee Hills police and west zone task force team on Monday apprehended the accused and seized five handwritten letters, four cell phones and one mobile phone used in the commission of offence from their possession. The accused were produced before the court for judicial remand, said police.
