Hyderabad: A four-year-old boy was attacked by a stray dog while playing on a street in Nalgonda district’s Nakirekal town on Friday, April 3, sustaining serious injuries on his face.
The boy, identified as Sharathchandra, reportedly fell unconscious after the attack and was rushed to a private hospital by his grandparents.
After first aid, the boy was shifted to Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad.

Attacks on the rise
The stray dog menace in Telangana is on the rise, with frequent reports of children being injured.
Just last week, a three-year-old boy lost his eye in a stray dog attack in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri on March 26. The boy, Riyan, was attacked by a couple of stray dogs in Tarakaram Nagar of Bhuvanagiri town.
Following the attack, Tarakramnagar staged a protest against the municipal corporation, alleging that it had failed to curb the dog menace.
Before this, at least five children who were playing outside their house were injured after being attacked by stray dogs in Khammam’s Donakonda village on March 9.
On the other hand, an animal welfare activist, A Goutham, has been filing complaints with the police alleging that sarpanches of many Gram Panchayaths in Telangana have poisoned over 1,000 dogs to death to fulfil an election promise.
